If you’re a tech loving, gadget-grabbing consumer, you no doubt want to get your hands on the hottest new trends. We love our gadgets and 2017 has the promise to be an exciting year as we continue to expand our Internet of Things and make our lives smarter. Here are 10 of the hottest new gadgets we can look forward to this year:
LeEco smart bikes
We can all agree that trying to look at a smartphone while cycling is asking for trouble! So the clever people at LeEco have integrated a 4-inch Android touchscreen into the bicycle for navigation, music playback and walk-talkie style communication to other people. Just don’t get too distracted!
PowerVision PowerRay underwater drone
Now that airborne drones are old news, it’s time to take them underwater! This drone can submerge up to 98 feet (30 meters) and records 4K video streamed straight to your phone, which you use to navigate. If that’s not exciting enough – it also features Fishfinder sonar, which can detect fish up to 131 feet (40 meters) away and lures them in with a blue light. PowerVision will also be offering VR goggles, allowing you to robot around by tilting your head.
HP Sprout G2 3D-scanning PC
This is the latest technology for anyone who uses 3D models in their work. The Sprout G2 has integrated 3D and 2D scanners which is ideal for use by product designers, CGI creators and a whole host of other functions. What’s more, it has a stylus-enabled touch mat that acts as a second screen - nifty!
Nabi Aristotle voice assistant
Ever wanted a real-life Mary Poppins? Well, this could be the next best thing. It's a baby monitor with Amazon’s Alexa voice-activated smart assistant. It answers your questions and helpfully orders more diapers when you run out. Most importantly though, it soothes babies back to sleep automatically. It's the Aristotle, by toymaker Mattel, and it sounds like a new parent's dream gadget.
Sleep Number 360 smart bed
Do you suffer from cold feet in bed? Well, now there is a gadget for you! Sleep Number have created a smart bed that knows when you've got cold feet and turns heat on at the bottom of the bed. Sounds like bliss! The smart mattress will also change its settings to compensate for changes in your position and - while it can't kick some for snoring - if it senses you are the culprit, it raises your head to reduce your volume. No more grouchy partners in the morning!
Cujo, Network Defender
There are many companies offering internet protection and firewalls to keep you safe from hackers but why not have one that looks super cute at the same time? Who says internet safety has to be dull when you could have this fun little chap sitting next to your PC?
Smart R2-D2
Something for the kids (or big kids) is this year’s top toy, the Smart R2-D. This cool droid pairs with an Android and iOS app that works as a remote control, letting kids drive him round, emitting a series of bleeps and other cute robot noises. He does a little dance and you can even set him on 'guard' mode. You can pass it off as educational tool to justify buying one as R2 has a series of 'mission' minigames teaching kids how to program routes.
The Wonder Clutch
Gadgets aren’t just for men and the ladies will love this next tech fashion accessory. The Wonder Clutch is absolutely the perfect gift for a tech-savvy fashionista. Not only will it go with any outfit but also features a Bluetooth speaker. Why has it taken so long for the world to give us the smart purse?
BenQ e-Reading Lamp
This is advertised as the world’s first lamp designed for ‘e-Reading’ - it has been smartly designed specifically for that purpose! The lamp has ‘Wide’ lighting so that you have nearly double the usual lamp reading space. Add to this the fact that it has an intelligent control to detect the illuminance of the environment you’re in - giving you the best light for your surroundings - and it’s no wonder we’re sold. Now that’s clever! You can even tailor-make your own brightness and color.
Tablet Stand
A simple gadget but that doesn’t mean it’s not really useful. If you love to cook then pulling up recipes on your tablet or cell phone can become a messy business. This stand isn’t a fancy gadget, but it is a tool that will make cooking with an iPad or other tablets much easier. The stand can be used to keep a tablet propped up, so it’s easy to read the latest recipes, keeps the tablet from getting covered in food and frees up your hands for making something delicious.
